Public safety advisory regarding bottled olive oil products from Pizzeria Farina and Farina a Legna

VANCOUVER, B.C. Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Public Health advises customers of both Pizzeria Farina located at 915 Main Street, Vancouver and Farina a Legna located at 119 2nd Street East, North Vancouver to avoid consuming bottled herb and chili infused olive oils purchased from these restaurants. Anyone who has already purchased these products is recommended to discard them or return them to either restaurant. Both products are no longer on sale at these locations.

​The reduction in preoperative group and screen testing has resulted in 9,000 fewer trips to medical labs at procedural hospitals in the days leading up to surgery and saved the health system $225,000 over three years.

VCH transitions toxic drug alerts to provincial system

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Starting spring 2023, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) will issue all toxic drug alerts for our region through the provincial Toxic Drug and Health Alerts (TDHA) system. In 2017, VCH created and has since been using the province’s first toxic drug alert system, RADAR (Real-time Drug Alert & Response). Transitioning this service to the TDHA system will ensure people have the option of subscribing to receive alerts for any B.C. health authority on the same platform.

Vancouver Coastal Health and Teck Partner to Study How Bacteria-killing Copper Can Reduce the Risk of Infection Transmission in Long-term Care Homes

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), Teck Resources Limited and VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation are partnering to study how antimicrobial copper can be used to prevent infections and improve health outcomes in three long-term care homes across the VCH region. Funded by Teck, it will be the first study of its size in Canada.
