VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has declared a COVID-19 outbreak in the British Columbia Psychosis Program located at Detwiller 2S on the West wing after four residents tested positive for COVID-19.

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has opened a new COVID-19 testing site located at the Life Sciences Centre, Health Sciences Mall on UBC campus. Services will be available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week, with free parking for those accessing care.

Vancouver Coastal Health advises residents of care options ahead of holiday season

VANCOUVER, B.C.- Ahead of the upcoming holiday season, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is advising people to ensure they access care in the right place. While it is important to visit the emergency department (ED) for emergent health issues, non-life threatening urgent and non-urgent conditions can often be effectively managed by urgent primary care centres (UPCCs), family doctors, walk-in clinics or other services. Those who are unsure where to access care can call 8-1-1 for general health guidance and information on services available in their local community.

Stem cell-based treatment produces insulin in patients with Type 1 diabetes

In the first study of its kind, a team of researchers at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and the University of British Columbia's faculty of medicine has helped to demonstrate that a stem cell-based treatment delivered through an implantable device can produce insulin in the human body.

Vancouver Coastal Health introduces Indigenous women’s health team

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is evolving the way Indigenous women receive care in the health care setting. The In Plain Sight: Addressing Indigenous-specific Racism and Discrimination in B.C. Health Care report, shared lived experiences and data highlighting the devastating disparities between Indigenous women and other residents in seeking and receiving health care in British Columbia. In the year following the release of the report, VCH's Aboriginal Health team has developed a strategy and put resources in place to address report findings and work across the health authority to affect positive change for Indigenous women, leading to easier access to culturally safe care and better health outcomes.
